The Indian Chapter of the International College of Surgeons conducts various academic activites to enhance and encourage the Associated Medical fraternity. Given below is a list of various academic activites carried out by the ICSIS in a years period.

Dr.R.G.Ginde Memorial Oration:- This is awarded every year .

. Dr.R.H.Karmarkar Foundation:- Guest Lecture every year .

Dr.P.P.Karnik Memorial Lecture every year .

Shrimati Nirmala Kesar Awards in Oncology ( Every year)

Bangalore Visiting Professorship: This is awarded once in two years . This is primarily intended to promote surgical training, mainly in clinical and operative areas , by the visit of an active , eminent fellow , to the institutions in Bangalore and Mysore.

Bangalore Travelling Fellowship: Awarded every year to a fellow of ICS of Bangalore (without arrears of subscription) for training oneself in any discipline of Surgery and allied subjects , within India for a period of not less than two weeks.

MUMBAI ASIA-PACIFICON-2005 TRAVELLING FELLOWSHIPS: The International College of Surgeons (Indian Section) has instituted the “MUMBAI ASIAPACIFICON-2005 TRAVELLING FELLOWSHIPS” from the year 2007. The aim of these fellowship grants is to provide partial financial support to young surgeons visiting a centre in India or abroad to enhance their knowledge / clinical skills. Two Fellowships will be awarded each year. The Mumbai ASIAPACIFICON-2005 Travelling Fellowship (National) - for visiting a centre in India AND The Mumbai ASIAPACIFICON-2005 Travelling Fellowship (International) -for visiting a centre overseas. The National ASIAPACIFICON-2005 Fellowship carries an award of Rs. 15,000/- & The International ASIAPACIFICON-2005 Fellowship carries an award of Rs. 35,000/-. The applicant may belong to any branch of surgery. A Fellow / Associate Fellow of the International College of Surgeons (Indian Section) in good standing would be given preference. He / she should be under 40 years of age in the year of applying for the fellowship. Candidates working in teaching / private hospitals or in private practice are eligible to apply. He / she should possess a postgraduate qualification (M.S. / M.D. / D. N. B.) in the respective speciality. Applications must be made in the prescribed form available at the Office of the International College of Surgeons, Indian Section

Jaipur Visiting Professorship: Awarded once in two years. Primarily intended to promote surgical training mainly clinical and operative by the visit of an eminent Surgeon to Jaipur .

Pondicherry Visiting Professorship awarded once in a year .

Outstanding Paper Awards: are given at every Annual Conference . A Committee is constituted for selection of outstanding papers . Age limit 45 years and is only fellows in good standing .

Dr.V.Mahadevan Memorial Best Research Paper Award.

Pune Gastro- Enteralogy Best Research Paper Award.

Annual Conference: This is organized once a year and consists of Symposia . Panel Discussion, Workshops . Free Papers and Video Sessions , Orations etc . During this conference , one-full day is devoted for Dr.Arthur Desa Memorial Continuing Surgical Education Programme.

Zonal Conference: Each zone organizes its annual conference every year .

Research Grants: Grants are provided for good research projects . Projects will be scrutinized by referees and accepted , based on their recommendations.

Scholarship Abroad: Scholarships of a maximum of $ 1500 are awarded by HQO Chicago.

18. Visiting Surgical Team: A Visiting Surgical Team consisting of internationally renowned Surgeons from abroad is organized at the request of local fellows . Local hospitality has to be extended by the local fellows .
